Mooney penalty secures valuable win for Cork
Drogheda United 0 Cork City 1
Dave Mooney scored yet again as Cork made it six league wins on the spin to move to within two points of joint-leaders St Pat's and Bohemians.
The Dubliner struck to bring the game to life on 58 minutes when first winning the penalty, having invited a rash challenge from Graham Gartland, and then sending Dan Connor the wrong way from the spot.
Remarkably, it was Mooney's 14th goal in his last nine games and his 20th in total for the season.
Mooney's scoring exploits have attracted interest from across channel and Reading boss Steve Coppell watched him at United Park today.
