Goalkeeper scores last-minute equaliser for UCD
UCD 1 Cobh Ramblers 1
Goalkeeper Matt Gregg was villain and hero as UCD salvaged a point in dramatic fashion to end a run of three straight defeats this evening.
New signing Ross Gaynor scored on his debut to give Cobh the lead at the UCD Bowl.
Gaynor, who scored a hat-trick last weekend in an "A" Championship game, confidently slotted home from a 12th-minute penalty after UCD goalkeeper Gregg had pulled down fellow new boy Daryl Kavanagh.
Ronan Finn and Shane Fitzgerald came close to levelling for College before the break.
Pete Mahon's side remained well on top into the second half, but chances for Brian King, Pat McWalter and Sean Harding were all wasted as Cobh looked like holding on for a big win.
But up into the Ramblers' box raced Gregg, three minutes into added time, to head home Derek Doyle's free-kick and earn UCD a point in their battle to avoid relegation and leave Cobh bottom of the table.
