Bohemians had defender Jason McGuinness sent off as they failed to overtake St Patrick's Athletic at the top of the Premier Division table.

In truth, Derry were the better side with Bohs content to go home with a point at the finish.

Derry troubled Bohs from the start with Niall McGinn their main threat bringing a terrific save from Brian Murphy on the half hour.

Murphy had to excel again two minutes from time with another brilliant stop to deprive Gareth McGlynn from close range following Owen Morrison's free-kick.

McGuinness had been harshly sent off on 65 minutes for a challenge on Mark Farren, his second booking.

The point moves Bohs level with St Pat's who have a better goal difference, though Pat Fenlon's side still have a game in hand.
