UCD earn a point at the Showgrounds

Two stunning second half shots saved from Matt Gregg earned UCD a point at the Showgrounds as Pete Mahon's Students frustrated Sligo.

College were the better side in the first half, forcing four corners to one and missing two good chances.

The first, on 18 minutes, was a real sitter as central defender Brian Shortall somehow managed to head wide from four yards from Pat McWalter's cross.

A flowing move involving Ronan Finn and McWalter set up Shane Fitzgerald to drill a shot narrowly wide ten minutes later.

Sligo finally came into the game in the second half and Rafael Cretaro brought a terrific save from Gregg within two minutes while Anto Murphy blazed over the bar after clever approach play from Faz Kuduzovic.

Gregg excelled again on 59 minutes to thwart Murphy after good work by Kuduzovic and Cretaro set him up.

Kuduzovic then almost won it for Sligo in the final minute but his chip hit the crossbar.
