Rangers and Burnley wait on Gow

Rangers will look to seal the signing of Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty today - and Alan Gow holds the key to the deal being completed.

A fee of £3.25m (€4m) has been agreed, which includes £250,000 (€314,000) to be paid once Lafferty has established himself at Ibrox.

Burnley will also collect 10% of any future profit if Rangers sell Lafferty.

Scotland B forward Gow is expected to continue talks with Burnley over a move to Turf Moor, having been offered to the Clarets as an additional part of the deal.

The former Falkirk player made just two appearances for Rangers last season, in cup games against East Fife and East Stirling.

Gow and Burnley have not been able to reach agreement so far, and the Coca-Cola Championship club are known to be eager to cut their wage bill, which exceeds turnover.

Gow, 25, said: “I’m still thinking about things.”

Lafferty is hoping the move can be pushed through, and told the Daily Record: “The deal is not completely concluded but I’m hoping it’s only a matter of time before Alan’s situation is sorted.”

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international has already passed a medical and agreed a contract with Rangers.

Lafferty will become Rangers’ third striker signing of the summer, after Kenny Miller joined from Derby and Andrius Velicka agreed a move from Norwegian club Viking.

Former Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez is tipping Lafferty to be a hit in Scotland.

“He will be a good signing for Rangers,” Sanchez told The Sun. “Gers are not getting the finished product yet but he is one for the future and it’s good he’ll be coached by Ally McCoist.”
