Cork record remarkable victory at the Brandywell

Dave Mooney hit a superb double and Denis Behan a wonder winner as Cork came from 2-0 down to record a remarkable victory at the Brandywell.

Derry edged a tight first half to lead 1-0 at the break from a flowing move on 34 minutes.

Owen Morrison was the architect, threading a delightful ball in behind Cork left-back Danny Murphy for the run of Niall McGinn, and the winger's low cross was swept home at the back post by in-rushing Gareth McGlynn for his first goal of the season.

Cork improved in the second half, but just when they appeared to be getting back into the game they gifted Derry a second goal on 64 minutes.

Cork skipper Dan Murray was caught in possession and McGlynn fed the ball through to McGinn who side-footed home through the legs of Michael Devine.

But Mooney gave Cork hope on 70 minutes when cleverly chipping Gerard Doherty from an angle following Liam Kearney's pass.

Within a minute, Mooney then raced onto a long ball to out-muscle Peter Hutton and drill the ball under Doherty to equalise.

The City striker then hit a post on 77 minutes with an audacious 35-yard chip before Behan struck for the winner ten minutes later.

With little on, the ball bounce up nicely for Behan some 25 yards out and his stunning volley beat Doherty to dip in under the cross bar to complete an incredible comeback.
