St Pat’s claw back draw at Drogheda
Drogheda United 2 St. Patrick's Athletic 2
Injury-hit St. Pat's moved five points clear at the top of the table - until Sunday night at least - as they twice came from behind at United Park.
Bad defending cost St. Pat's a 9th minute goal.
No-one picked up the run of Adam Hughes from Paul Keegan's free-kick and the midfielder planted his free header into the bottom corner of Barry Ryan's net.
St. Pat's then had an amazing let-off when Drogheda hit the bar twice and the visitors had to clear off the line twice - all in the one incident.
Gary O'Neill levelled for Saints on 70 minutes, flicking home after Jamie Harris knocked down Des Byrne's free-kick.
Stuart Byrne restored Drogheda's lead within three minutes when racing through onto Richie Baker's pass.
But Saints equalised again within two minutes when Gary Dempsey arrived to head home after a surging run and cross down the right from Keith Fahey.
