Celtic boss Gordon Strachan’s house has been broken into, police said today.

Thieves raided his home in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, and reportedly made off with a haul of his belongings.

Strachan, 51, and his wife Lesley are believed to have slept through the break-in.

The thieves reportedly stole items including a camera and a laptop computer.

The former Aberdeen, Manchester United and Leeds player had no idea anything had happened until the the next morning, according to reports.

The Parkhead manager had hinted at the incident during a Celtic press conference.

Asked if he was having sleepless nights because of the close-run championship race against Old Firm rivals Rangers, he said: “I’m sleeping too well. It’ll be self-explanatory in a wee while, I’m sure.

“But I am sleeping too well, trust me.”

Strathclyde Police confirmed they had received a report of a break-in.

A spokeswoman said: “Police were called about 9am in the morning on Thursday, May 8 to a report of a break-in.

“Police inquiries are ongoing.”
