Pat’s win see-saw encounter
St Patrick's Athletic 3 Cork City 2
St Patrick's Athletic moved six points clear at the top of the Premier Division table tonight in a five goal thriller against Cork City at Richmond Park.
The Inchicore men had the perfect start on two minutes when a Keith Fahey free on the right was powerfully headed home by striker Gary O'Neill from close range, giving 'keeper Michael Devine no chance.
St Pat's then stretched their lead 65 minutes when Fahey touched home another perfect pass from midfield by Mark Dempsey. Cork had other ideas however, despite being down to 10 men after a red card for defender Dan Murphy, they pulled a goal back on 76 minutes.
Substitute John O'Flynn headed home on 76 minutes after a cross from the right by Colin Healy. It was O'Flynn again with an equaliser on 87 minutes after a cross from Killian Lordan.
Cork celebrations were short lived however, as Fahey had the last say. His 88th-minute free from the edge of the box took a slight deflection and past the unfortunate Devine.
