Substitute Colin Nixon punished bad defending as Derry had to settle for a point at The Oval.

Derry had the better of the chances in a dominant first half.

Conor Sammon should have done better on four minutes when through one-on-one against Elliott Morris with the keeper saving.

Kevin McHugh rattled the Glens crossbar eight minutes later before Sammon wasted another chance when shooting over the bar from six yards.

Sammon made amends, though, five minutes into the second half when shooting home a penalty after Niall McGinn had been fouled by Jamie McGovern.

But Nixon salvaged a point for Glens on 70 minutes when firing home from 12 yards after Derry failed to clear Sean Ward's free-kick.
