Peace: 'Phillips contract talks are ongoing'

West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has confirmed talks are “ongoing” with leading scorer Kevin Phillips over a new contract.

Phillips, 34, who has netted 24 goals this season, is out of contract in the summer.

Albion are keen to retain the services of the former Sunderland and Aston Villa striker, who has averaged more than a goal every two games since arriving at The Hawthorns two years ago.

Peace said: “Negotiations with Kevin Phillips and his representatives are ongoing and everyone hopes that they will reach a successful conclusion.”
