Cork relieved with first win of the season

Dave Mooney hit a second half penalty to give Cork their first win of the season as the relief was palpable around Turner's Cross.

UCD should have been in front on seven minutes, but Paul Byrne, picked out by Pat McWalter, skied the ball wide.

But Cork eased the pressure on boss Alan Mathews with a harshly awarded spot kick on 67 minutes when John O'Flynn went down under the challenge of Killian Gallagher.

Mooney slotted home his second goal of the season to give title-hopefuls City three much needed points.
