Cousins sacked as Galway boss

Tony Cousins has been sacked as the manager of Galway United.

This follows a poor start to the season by the side, picking up a single point in their opening four games of the current campaign.

A club statement read: 'The club would like to thank Tony Cousins and his management team for their efforts for Galway United FC.

'The Board believes that a change of direction is required at this stage to achieve its stated objectives.'

Billy Clery will act as caretaker manager.
