Barca to wait on Eto'o

Barcelona will see how striker Samuel Eto’o responds to treatment on his calf strain before deciding whether the Cameroon international will be fit to face Schalke on Tuesday night.

Eto’o sustained the injury during Saturday’s 3-2 league defeat at Real Betis and although he has been included in an 18-man squad for the Champions League quarter-final first leg in Germany, Barca do not yet know if he will be able to play.

Defensive duo Rafael Marquez (foot) and Gabriel Milito (groin) have shaken off their knocks and are part of the travelling party, but Deco has been ruled out despite making good progress on his problem.

Also absent from Frank Rijkaard’s squad are injured trio Lionel Messi, Oleguer Presas and Albert Jorquera, as well as Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho, who has missed the last four matches through injury.
