Rovers back to second place after Galway win

Galway United 0 Shamrock Rovers 2

Superbly taken goals from Dessie Baker and skipper Stephen Rice eased Shamrock Rovers back up to second in the Premier Division table at Terryland Park to maintain their bright start to the season.

In-form Rovers had the perfect start with the lead goal on 18 minutes.

Baker knocked down keeper Barry Murphy's clearance for winger Eoin Doyle. He was challenged by Galway defender Marc McCullough and the ball broke free to Baker who fired home from the edge of the area.

Rice added the second goal on 58 minutes when latching onto Baker's clever backheel to fire home from 16 yards.
