Brazil doctor to help Eduardo recovery

Brazil national team doctor Jose Luiz Runco has confirmed he will treat Arsenal forward Eduardo as he recovers from a broken leg.

The Brazil-born Croatia striker suffered one of the most horrendous injuries ever seen in a Premier League match after a mis-timed tackle by Birmingham defender Martin Taylor last month.

Runco announced he will be in charge of the 25-year-old’s rehabilitation before he returns to the Gunners next season.

Runco revealed he met with the player earlier this week in London, where the Selecao played an international friendly against Sweden last Wednesday. Eduardo will fly to Brazil in a fortnight to begin treatment.

“Following that first contact, I have not yet had an opportunity to analyse the X-rays. However here in Brazil, it will be easier for us to analyse his injury and plot a recovery plan,” Runco told GloboEsporte.com.

“The most important thing is that he is in a good frame of mind ahead of the rehabilitation. Self-esteem is crucial for the treatment.

“Eduardo will be here in two weeks’ time.”
