Australia winger Harry Kewell has refused to give up on earning a new Liverpool contract – despite being deemed surplus to requirements by Rafael Benitez for today’s crunch clash with Manchester United.

Kewell has struggled to nail down a place in the Spaniard’s first XI and with his contract up in the summer, he accepts he faces an uphill struggle to remain at Anfield.
