Record prize money for Eircom National League winners

In the past the Eircom National League has found itself in all kinds of controversies from player registration forms going amiss to ineligible players being fielded for all sorts of competitions.

But that was when the competition was run by the clubs themselves and those behind the League now are determined to ensure it grows in credibility in the coming seasons.

The 2008 Eircom National League will mark a new departure for the competition with record prize money and an assurance from chief Fran Gavin that none of the embarrassments of the past will be repeated.

He made his comments in the aftermath of the 2008 league launch this evening.
