Rangers have announced they will appeal against Allan McGregor’s red card in the Scottish Cup draw at Hibernian.

The goalkeeper was sent off in the closing stages of the goalless draw at Easter Road yesterday after referee Craig Thomson ruled he had brought down Dean Shiels on the edge of the box.

However, Rangers boss Walter Smith felt McGregor had got the ball first and the club hope to have the red card rescinded, freeing the Scotland number two for the replay.
