Bates signs Canaries deal

Norwich have signed Middlesbrough defender Matthew Bates on loan until April 28.

The 21-year-old, a former England youth international, has yet to appear for the Boro first team this season.

Bates played against the Canaries last season when on loan at East Anglia rivals Ipswich, who won 3-1 at Portman Road.

Boro have a 24-hour recall clause as part of the deal.
