Birmingham manager Alex McLeish is to hold talks with midfielder Mehdi Nafti regarding his future when he returns from African Nations Cup duty.

Nafti, currently in action for Tunisia, has been in impressive form for Blues this season and formed an impressive partnership with Fabrice Muamba.

His current deal with the midlands club expires in the summer although City can take up an additional 12-month option on his services.

McLeish told PA Sport: “We told him before he went to the African Nations Cup that we would speak to him when he came back.

“We have an option on him, so he’s got a year and a bit left, and we can have a chat about where we see things going forward in the coming weeks.”

Goalkeeper Maik Taylor is out of contract in the summer and he has expressed a desire to remain at St Andrews if McLeish offers him a new deal.
