Clearly there are fences to mend between the Republic of Ireland's caretaker manager and the 21-year-old international Stephen Ireland.

There was no sign of the Manchester City midfielder's name on the 21-man panel for the first international of 2008 against Brazil at Croke Park.

Givens is angry that Ireland made no attempt to repair relations following his controversial exit in Slovakia in October when falsely claiming that his Grandmother had died.

Ireland will obviously have to make the first move to get his international career back on track if Givens remarks on the subject are anything to go by.
