Bayern Munich boss rules out club return

Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld will not coach another club when he leaves at the end of the season – but will consider international management.

Jurgen Klinsmann will take over from Hitzfeld at the Allianz Arena in the summer, bringing to an end the 59-year-old’s second spell in charge of the Bundesliga giants.

Hitzfeld told German TV station ARD: “First of all I have to decide whether I will continue as a coach or not.

“But I will definitely not go to a club, only to an association where I will have fewer games.”

Hitzfeld, who won the Champions League with both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern, succeeded Felix Magath in charge of the Munich club in February last year.

He had earlier coached the team between 1998 and 2004, winning four Bundesliga titles and two German Cups.

Hitzfeld claims he wants to have made a definite decision on his future by the end of March at the latest – and has not ruled out becoming a TV pundit.

“That would mean less stress,” he added.
