Robinson left out of Spurs' squad
Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson was not in the squad for the FA Cup third-round replay at Reading as his wife gave birth to a boy on the eve of the game.
With England boss Fabio Capello in the stands at the Madejski Stadium, Robinson was unlikely to have been in the starting XI anyway after losing his place to Radek Cerny.
Dimitar Berbatov had flu and was replaced by Jermain Defoe, Ledley King was rested and Younes Kaboul returned, while Chris Gunter made his Spurs debut. Tommy Forecast was Spurs’ back-up goalkeeper for the night.
Reading boss Steve Coppell fielded his second string, although five players remained from the side that lost at Aston Villa at the weekend.
Reading: Federici, De la Cruz, Ingimarsson, Pearce, Shorey, Rosenior, Cisse, Harper, Convey, Lita, Long.
Subs: Hahnemann, Doyle, Hunt, Cox, Henry.
Tottenham: Cerny, Chimbonda, Dawson, Kaboul, Gunter, Tainio, Jenas, Boateng, Malbranque, Defoe, Keane.
Subs: Forecast, Stalteri, Taarabt, O’Hara, Lennon.
Referee: Mike Riley (Yorkshire)
