The FAI has denied speculation that the hunt for a new Republic of Ireland manager is a done deal.

A statement on the association's website last night said no candidate has been offered the job.

The statement follows rumours over the weekend that Terry Venables' name had been put forward by the three-man panel charged with finding Steve Staunton's successor.
