Latics poised to sign Palacios

Steve Bruce is expected to complete his first signing as Wigan boss today with a £1m move for Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios close to completion.

Bruce had brought Palacios to St Andrews as Birmingham boss at the start of the season and has been keen to renew his interest in the 23-year-old.

Wigan have agreed a fee with Palacios’ club Olimpia and are set to announce the signing once formalities have been completed later today.

Palacios joined Birmingham on a six-month loan in August last year but despite Bruce’s interest, the deal was never made permanent.

Reports also suggest Palacios’ Olimpia team-mate Maynor Figueroa could be set to move to the JJB Stadium on an initial loan deal.
