The son of the GAP clothing empire founder Donald Fisher already has experience of being a stakeholder in a sports giant, as he is currently the co-owner of Major League baseball side Oakland Athletics.

Celtic’s new shareholder is 46 years old, and has invested in Celtic through his company Atlas LLC, a California limited liability company.

In a statement to the Stock Exchange, Celtic plc announced they were notified of the investment by Atlas on Tuesday.

The deal means Fisher owns 503,010 convertible preferred ordinary shares in the Scottish Premier League club.
