Osman brings Everton level just before break

Leon Osman struck shortly before half-time to ensure honours were even in Everton’s Carling Cup quarter-final tie against West Ham at Upton Park.

Carlton Cole had given the Hammers an 11th-minute lead with a composed finish after escaping the Everton defence to latch on to a long ball from Lucas Neill.

Everton then managed to turn the tide and Osman capitalised on a period of fierce pressure to curl his shot past Robert Green from the edge of the West Ham area.
