Rangers cautious against Lyon
Walter Smith fielded a cautious line-up for Rangers’ crunch Champions League qualifier against Lyon at Ibrox.
The Govan side needed only a draw to qualify out of Group E in to the last 16 along with Barcelona but in a 4-5-1 formation, Daniel Cousin was the lone striker.
Rangers showed one change from the side that beat Lyon 3-0 in France earlier in the campaign, midfielder Steven Whittaker in for DaMarcus Beasley, who is out for the rest of the season with knee ligament injury.
Lyon knew only a victory would do and coach Alain Perrin went with three attackers in Sidney Govou, Hatem Ben Arfa and teenager star Karim Benzema.
