Setback for Everton's Baines
Everton defender Leighton Baines will be out for longer than expected after a scan revealed a tear on his hamstring.
Baines pulled up sharply during the 3-0 victory against Fulham and it was first thought he would only sidelined for a couple of weeks.
But manager David Moyes told the Liverpool Echo: “It looks like Leighton is going to be out for between four to six weeks. It’s a blow because he has done so well for us.”
Phil Jagielka could return to the team in Baines’ absence for the Carling Cup quarter final match against West Ham at Upton Park tomorrow.
Tony Hibbert is doubtful with a back problem while Nuno Valente (hamstring) and Alan Stubbs (calf) remain sidelined through injury.
Provisional squad: Howard, Hibbert, Neville, Lescott, Jagielka, Yobo, Arteta, Pienaar, Carsley, Cahill, Osman, Gravesen, Yakubu, Johnson, McFadden, Anichebe, Vaughan, Wessels.
