Wayne Rooney returns to the Manchester United starting line-up tonight as Alex Ferguson’s men look to reclaim second spot in the Premier League table with victory over Fulham.

Rooney has missed three United games – plus two for England – since suffering an ankle injury in a freak training ground accident last month, but Ferguson has no hesitation in reuniting him with Carlos Tevez in a strong home line-up.

Anderson partners Owen Hargreaves in central midfield, while former Red Devil David Healy only makes the bench for the Cottagers.

Man Utd: Van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Hargreaves, Anderson, Giggs, Tevez, Rooney.

Subs: Kuszczak, Saha, Carrick, O’Shea, Fletcher.

Fulham: Niemi, Omozusi, Hughes, Stefanovic, Konchesky, Davies, Davis, Murphy, Bouazza, Dempsey, Kuqi.

Subs: Warner, Bocanegra, Ki-Hyeon, Healy, Baird.

Referee: Rob Styles.
