Sanchez bides time on Murphy deal
Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez wants to see consistency from Danny Murphy through the season before deciding whether to reward the midfielder with a new contract.
Murphy, 30, has scored twice since arriving from Tottenham on transfer deadline day and he is keen to extend his one-year deal at Craven Cottage.
“All current players’ contracts are reviewed on an ongoing basis,” said boss Sanchez. “Danny is here and has done well in the games that he has played.
“I’d like to see him over the course of the season – if we want to keep Danny we will keep him.”
Sanchez is planning to freshen up his squad in the January transfer window and he also has players returning from injury.
Former Wigan midfielder Jimmy Bullard has started training with the first team again after his horrific knee injury, although the midfielder is not getting tackled by his team-mates yet.
American striker Brian McBride is targeting a return to action in the new year following his knee injury. Lee Cook is also about five weeks away from his return.
Full-back Moritz Volz has had shoulder, groin and foot problems but played in the reserves this week.
