The League Cup winners went ahead through Pat McCourt, with Sean Hargan making it 2-0 before half-time.

Cobh snatched one back midway through the second half, but the Candystripes held on for the win.

The last of the Eircom League's four places in the Setanta Cup will be taken by the winners of next month's FAI Cup final between Cork City and Longford Town.

Tonight, Finn Harps play the first match of a two-legged promotion-relegation battle with Waterford United to determine who plays in the Premier Division next season.
