Given: 'Get best man for the job, Irish or not'

Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given says he and his team-mates want the FAI to get the best possible manager to replace Steve Staunton.

The FAI board is set to hold talks with some of the senior players to get their views on the process of selecting a new manager.

Speaking over the weekend, Given said he wants to see the best candidate get the job.

"In an ideal world, you would want an Irishman, but at the minute, I would just say 'get the best person in'," he said.
