Boro recall Johnson
Middlesbrough have recalled winger Adam Johnson from his successful loan spell at Watford.
The 20-year-old has been in sparkling form for the Hornets, scoring five goals in 11 starts as Adrian Boothroyd’s side have opened up a commanding lead at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship.
Boothroyd was keen to keep hold of Johnson but Boro manager Gareth Southgate has decided to call him back to the Riverside.
Johnson told Watford’s official website www.watfordfc.co.uk: “I played 11 games in a row here, which I’ve never done in competitive football at senior level. The most I played for Middlesbrough is two games in a row.
“But I’ve come to Watford and hopefully I’ve proven to people that I can do it week in, week out. I’m just grateful to Watford for giving me my chance.”
