The Republic of Ireland's under-23s got their International Challenge Tournament campaign off to a positive start last night.

Pat Fenlon's team, which is comprised entirely of eircom League players, beat their Slovakian counterparts 2-0 at Dalymount Park.

Gavin Peers of Sligo Rovers netted the first after 27 minutes, with Derry's Killian Brennan scoring the second six minutes later.

Meanwhile, there was a strong turn-out at Richmond Park last night for St Pats' friendly encounter with Polish side Wisla Krakow, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
