Vercauteren leaves Anderlecht

Anderlecht have parted company with coach Frank Vercauteren.

The situation came to a head following the 2-0 defeat to Germinal Beerschot on Sunday which left the Brussels-based club fourth in the Jupiler League standings, seven points behind leaders Club Brugge.

An official statement read: “By mutual agreement, the RSC Anderlecht board and Frank Vercauteren have agreed to terminate their contract with immediate effect.”

Vercauteren’s assistant Ariel Jacobs has been named as coach for the rest of the season.
