FIFA reinstates Kuwait
FIFA’s Emergency Committee has conditionally agreed to lift the suspension imposed on the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) last month.
FIFA suspended the KFA from all football on October 29 after it was discovered that the association was subject to interference from the Kuwaiti government – a direct contravention of FIFA rules.
The KFA board subsequently resigned and at an extraordinary general assembly of the association on November 4, their appointment was officially declared null and void.
At the same meeting, a transition committee set up by FIFA on March 12 was reinstated.
The KFA also pledged to ratify new FIFA-approved statutes by November 26, including a stipulation that the new board be made up of a chairman, deputy chairman and three other members, for which elections will be held.
However, the KFA will be suspended from FIFA with immediate effect if they fail to adhere to the agreements.
