Galway end season with a win
Galway United 2 UCD 1
Goals form Alan Keane and Derek Glynn saw Galway finish the season with a flourish and give UCD a right scare.
If Waterford had beaten Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park, this result would have put College in the play-off.
The sides swapped goals inside a bizarre opening 90 seconds.
Galway won a penalty after just eight seconds when Alan Mahon pulled down Derek O'Brien and Keane slotted home the penalty.
But UCD levelled from the kick-off. The ball was worked into the Galway box and defender Wes Charles' attempted clearance struck the back of College striker Paul Byrne to enter the home net.
Galway regained the lead on 17 minutes - for what proved the winner - when Glynn broke through to rifle home his 10th goal of the season from 20 yards.
