Rooney snatches half-time lead for United

Manchester United snatched a half-time lead against Arsenal in today’s top-of-the-table Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium.

Both sides played at a high tempo, and United had created the better of the chances, notably through Ryan Giggs, before Wayne Rooney saw his near-post shot deflected in off William Gallas.

A fine point-blank save from Edwin van Der Sar had earlier denied the Arsenal captain following a bullet header.
