Derry and Rovers gain a point each
Derry City 1 Shamrock Rovers 1
Despite neither side having anything to play for, they served up a cracking match at the Brandywell with a point a piece fully deserved.
Ken Oman wasted a glorious chance to give Derry a second minute lead; heading wide from a Gareth McGlynn free-kick.
But Rovers stole the lead on 28 minutes when David Cassidy got on the end of Tadhg Purcell's header to drive a shot past Patrick Jennings from 20 yards.
Derry levelled nine minutes into the second half with a typical strike from Kevin McHugh who rifled home a stunning volley from McGlynn's cross.
