Pressure no problem for Brown

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has promised fans he can live with the pressure of being expected to win every match.

The former Hibernian youngster joined Celtic in the summer on a five-year contract and has settled well.

Brown has lived up to the expectations of a Celtic support keen for more silverware and is desperate to win the CIS Insurance Cup for the second year running after his triumph with the Easter Road club last term.

Brown said: “You always feel under pressure to win trophies, all the fans want silverware and they want you to win as many games as possible.

“I think they should expect it week in, week out as they come to watch us play and they pay our wages.

“We are here to win games and that’s why I am here; to be in the Champions League, win trophies every year and win the SPL title.”

The Scotland midfielder has treasured memories of the emphatic 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Hampden last May.

And he insists that, no matter what he goes on to achieve throughout the rest of his career, that winners’ medal will always fill him with pride.

He added: “That was a special one. Not a lot of Hibs teams have gone and managed to win it and it was enjoyable.

“It is hard having been to a final with Hibs before and lost, but we won the last one so I was very proud.

“They hadn’t won a trophy for 16 or 17 years and we did it and it was one of the proudest moments of my Hibernian career.

“Going down Leith Walk in an open-top bus in front of thousands of fans was just phenomenal.

“But now I’m at Celtic and I want to hopefully win a lot more trophies here.”
