Koeman bemoans 'sloppy' PSV

PSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman was critical of his side following their goalless draw at home to Fenerbahce in Champions League last night.

The Dutch champions remain in third spot in Group G, one point behind the Turkish outfit after failing to find a way past 10-man Fener in an ill-tempered encounter at the Philips Stadion.

“Our game-play was characterised by many sloppy moments,” admitted Koeman.

“We could not find the free man. It was not good.”

Devoid of any real quality, the game will be best remembered for a series of skirmishes which saw PSV defender Eric Addo involved in a spitting incident in the first half.

Fenerbahce then had to make do with 10 men for the last 25 minutes as striker Deivid was harshly dismissed for a lunge on Mike Zonneveld.

“We tried to play more opportunistically toward the end,” said Koeman. “Fenerbahce defended that very well.”

Koeman, however, remains optimistic his side can reach the next round.

“There are always possibilities, say in the away game at Fenerbahce. We must try to play football there ourselves too.”
