Draw means Cork title hopes fade

Bray Wanderers 1 Cork City 1

Cork boss Damien Richardson was sent from the dugout as his side's lingering title hopes were effectively ended at the Carlisle Grounds.

Bray had the perfect start with the lead goal after just seven minutes when Alan Cawley's free-kick was headed down by Chris Deans for Patrick Kavanagh to score with a terrific overhead kick.

Richardson was dismissed from the sidelines by referee Tom Connolly on 61 minutes for disputing a foul on striker Leon McSweeney.

Four minutes later Denis Behan maintained his remarkable scoring run when heading home Gareth Farrelly's cross for his 10th goal in seven games.

The draw, however, is of little use to Cork who stay second, though now ten points behind leaders Drogheda whom they travel to meet next week.
