New City deal for Schmeichel

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester City.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has rewarded the Danish U-21 international keeper for the impressive form that had seen him concede only two goals this season before yesterday’s 3-3 draw at Fulham.

Schmeichel told the club’s website www.mcfc.co.uk: “It’s great to have everything put to bed now so I can concentrate on my football and I’m delighted.

“Everything’s gone well this season, so to get this sorted out as well is really pleasing.”

Eriksson said: “Kasper has been very impressive since I came to City, and I’m delighted that he has committed his future to the club.”
