Typhoon leads to fixture rethink

Today’s women’s World Cup group games in China between Australia and Canada and China and New Zealand have been put back one day due to a typhoon in the region.

FIFA yesterday moved the Group C game between Norway and Ghana and the Group D clash between Brazil and Denmark, both to be played in Hangzhou, to Thursday because of the adverse weather conditions brought about by typhoon Wipha.

The remaining two games had been scheduled to go ahead as planned on Wednesday evening but, after receiving the latest weather reports, FIFA decided all remaining group games will be played on Thursday.

The Group C games between Canada and Australia and Norway against Ghana will kick-off at 1700 local time, while the Group D matches between China and New Zealand and Brazil against Denmark will be played at 2000 local time.
