Eriksson to assess Ireland

Manchester City Sven-Goran Eriksson will meet troubled Stephen Ireland this morning then decide whether the midfielder should face Aston Villa tomorrow.

Ireland was forced to issue an apology through the club after admitting lying to the Republic of Ireland about his grandmother dying so he return home to comfort his girlfriend Jessica, who had suffered a miscarriage.
