Staunton hoping for Finnan return

Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton hoped for a major injury boost today ahead of his side’s crucial Euro 2008 double-header in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Liverpool full-back Steve Finnan was due to join up with the Republic squad after receiving treatment back at Anfield for a knee injury sustained during his side’s win over Derby.
