Students stun table-toppers Drogheda
Drogheda United 0 UCD 1
UCD stunned league leaders Drogheda with a fully deserved win at United Park to ensure that the Premier Division title race is far from over.
Drogheda remain seven points clear at the top, but this defeat, which means they've taken just two points from their last three league games, will give the teams in the chase plenty of hope with nine games to play.
The goal came on 52 minutes and was straight off the UCD training ground.
Conan Byrne slid a corner out from goal to Ian Bermingham and the left-back's drilled shot flew through a crowded penalty area and into the far corner of the net.
Drogheda got one shot on target in the whole match as they seemed to be afflicted by a European hangover following their UEFA Cup knockout to Swedes Helsingborg last Thursday.
UCD ran much of the first half, creating the best opening on 32 minutes.
A handball by Drogheda left-back Simon Webb forced Connor into a terrific one-handed save from Byrne's superbly struck 30-yard free-kick.
