Luque ends troubled spell at Newcastle

Ajax have today confirmed they have reached agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Albert Luque.

The Spaniard, 29, failed to shine at St James’ Park following his move from Deportivo La Coruna in August 2005 and has joined the Amsterdam side for an undisclosed fee.

An Ajax statement read: “The striker will today sign his contract at Ajax, which runs until June 30, 2010.”

He is due to sign a three-year contract today.
